No Water, No Life

Gursel Alamshahov was born in 1981 in Kapan, then part of the Armenian SSR. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Sculpture at the Azerbaijan Academy of Fine Arts between 1999 and 2005.
At the symposium, Gursel Alamshahov presented his work “No Water, No Life.” “This work shows how the earth cracks and splits in the absence of water. The cracks reflect not only nature’s suffering but also the future of humanity. Made from solid metal, the monument immortalizes the importance of water and the tragedy of its absence. Every fracture reminds us of the value of a single drop: when water is gone, life fades away. Each detail reminds the viewer that the delicate balance of nature must always be preserved.
The work also emphasizes the relationship of responsibility between man and nature: every action, every decision affects the future of the planet. “No Water, No Life” is a simple yet profound truth that urges us to think, reflect and protect the environment. The monument visually conveys both the life-giving power of water and the emptiness caused by its loss — a silent cry of thirst.”
